Springfield Armory, M1 Garand, CAL: 30-06, MFG: 1944. S/N: 2573734, Semi-Auto Rifle, 24'' round barrel. The semi-pistol grip wooden stock is excellent, with light wear. The cartouches on stock are clear & legible. The left side of the stock is stamped ''S.A. G.A.W.'' in box, followed by small ordnance wheel, with two crossing cannons, & the inside pistol grip has a circled ''P'' cartouche. The metal finish on the barrel & receiver rates 85%, with some honest wear, dings on the barrel & some small spots thinning. The back of receiver is marked in a five line address ''U.S. RIFLE, CAL. .30M1, SPRINGFIELD, ARMORY, S/N''. The bolt is stamped ''D28287-12SA'', ''S-040''. Barrel is stamped, ''1 S A 3 44''. OP Rod is stamped ''D32382 6 NA''. Type 3 trigger guard is stamped ''D28290-12-SA''. Type 3 safety stamped ''C46015-6SA''. Type 3 hammer stamped ''C46008-5 SA''. Type 1 gas port is stamped ''D 35449-SA''. ''T'' firing proof stamped on the bottom of the bayonet lug. Bore is good, beginning to darken, with light intermittent pitting. The barrel holds a front sight blade with protective wings, windage & elevation adjustable Type 3 rear aperture sight, with lock bar & Type 3 sight cover. The buttstock carries a military style trapdoor buttplate. A very nice example of a Springfield M1. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
