Winchester Model 64A, CAL: marked 30-30 WIN (30 WCF ), MFG: 1972, SN: 3595315, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' barrel, 2/3rds mag. Long tang. Winchester manufactured appx 67,000 Model 64 rifles & carbines, from 1933-57. However, a second run of only 8,250 rifles were produced in 1972 & 73, all in 30-30, making this example a fairly rare collectible. The model 64 & 64A were improvements of the model 55, which itself was supposed to be an improvement on the original 1894 & 94. The flat pistol grip wood stocks are very good & solid, whoever they display numerous surface scrapes, contusions & handling marks. They, along with lots of flaking to the original finish, show the use wear. The original metal blue finish on the barrel & tube rates 90%. The receiver rates 30%, resulting from flaking loss or wear, which is very common due to the bluing process used during this era. Bore is excellent. The rifle is fitted with a Lyman receiver sight, while the barrel carries a blank filled dovetail & front ramp sight, without the hood. Buttstock holds a checkered Winchester plastic buttplate. A rare opportunity to buy a 30-30 rifle from the 1894 lineage that had very limited production. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 500 to 1000
