Iver Johnson, Model ''Champion'', CAL: 44, MFG: 1891-1919, SN: 42062, Break Action Single Shot Shotgun, 30'' barrel. The original & refinished round knob pistol grip wood stocks are excellent. There are minor contusions & scrapes to the finish. The metal blue finish on the barrel has worn to a mix of remaining original blue, metal grey & spotting toned to a brown patina. The receiver is case-hardened, worn to metal grey & toned to a brown patina, with faint case-colors remaining. Bore is excellent & bright. The barrel carries a single front bead. I.J grooved plastic buttplate. This shotgun was originally made for 44cal shotshells that were produced during the era. These guns were considered versatile game guns for use on the frontier.
