Rare Nagoya Arsenal, Model: Type 2 Paratrooper, CAL: 7.7 x 58mm, MFG: 1943-44, SN: 15300, bolt action take down rifle. 26'' barrel. The semi pistol grip wood stock is good, forend has been cut down, upper handguard, barrel bands, bayonet lug, & rear sling swivel mount is missing, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age, stock appears to have been lightly sanded & refinished. The receiver retains 75% of finish with spots of thinned bluing & patina, barrel retains 65% bluing with spots of thinned bluing & spots of brown patina. Left side of receiver is marked with S/N & Arsenal stamp, top of receiver is marked with a ground off chrysanthemum with a little part still remaining & ''TYPE 2'' in Japanese, left side of receiver reinforcing band is marked ''175'', left side of barrel reinforcing band is marked ''720'', left side of barrel is marked ''720'', S/N mismatched bolt, barrel reinforcing band, receiver reinforcing band & barrel. Bore is good bright & shiny amongst thinned rifling. Barleycorn front sight with protective ears, Aperture Ladder rear sight marked 3 to 15, Has folding anti-aircraft sight wings & are marked 2 to 3. Metal buttplate with wear & brown patina. Action fully functional & very tight. One of approx. 22,000 made which utilized a special wedge that threads into the receiver reinforcing band & slides into a tapered groove beneath the barrel chamber snugging the barrel to receiver quite effectively. No import markings. A highly sought after, collectible Arisaka that sadly has been sporterized, but the barrel has not been cut down so it world make a nice gun to try & restore.
