Colt, Open Top Pocket Model, CAL: 22, MFG: 1871-77, SN: 71911, Single Action Revolver, 2 3/8'' barrel. The top of the barrel is marked in two lines ''COLT'S PT F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.''. The left side of the frame is marked ''22 CAL''. The full SN can be found on the butt & bottom of barrel housing. The original bird's head wood grips are excellent, with minor handling marks. The silver plated finished rates 90% overall. Hammer is blued. Bore is good, with pitting throughout. The barrel holds a small blade front sight. Colt made appx 114,000 of these small, spur-trigger, .22 caliber pocket revolvers. These revolvers were well-made & popular, but Colt eventually found it difficult to compete with cheaper pocket pistols that flooded the market during the era. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
