Moore's Pat Fire Arms Co, Teat-Fire Pistol, CAL: 32 Teat-Fire, MFG: 1864-70, SN: 18706, Single Action Front-Loading Revolver, 3 1/4'' barrel. The bird's head wood grips are very good. There are contusions, scrapes, dings to the finish. The frame & barrel housing display simple floral engravings. The rear edge of the cylinder is marked ''D. WILLIAMSONS PATENT / JANUARY 5, 1864''. The metal blue finish on the barrel, cylinder has toned to a mix of remaining original blue & brown patina, with areas worn to metal grey. The brass frame is silver plated, retaining 90% coverage. Bore is excellent. The barrel holds a small half-moon blade front sight. Hook extractor is present. Of the 30,000 of these revolvers produced, 20,000 were made without the hook extractor, making this example slightly more scarce. The Teat-fire cartridge was a .32 caliber pistol cartridge designed by Daniel Moore & manufactured by Moore & his partner David Williamson. It was produced under both the Moore & National Arms name in Brooklyn, New York in the mid-19th century. Moore's Teat-Fire Revolver proved to be very popular during the American Civil War era, with both soldier & civilian use. There were appx 30,000 of these revolvers made from 1864 to 1870, before it was acquired by Colt's Manufacturing Company. This example is in original & high condition. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
