Webley & Scott, Mk IV .38/200 Service Revolver, CAL: .38/200 (38 S&W), MFG: 1932-78, SN: 49743, Single/Double Action Revolver, 4'' barrel. The Webley marked checkered plastic grips are excellent & solid. There are scuffs, scrapes & dings. The original metal finish rates 95%. Bore is excellent, with roughness & spotting near the cylinder. The barrel holds an elevated half-moon blade front sight. Lanyard loop present. At the end of the WW1, the British military decided that the .455 caliber gun & cartridge was too large for modern military use & concluded that a pistol in .38 caliber would be just as effective for stopping an enemy. Webley & Scott immediately started producing the Webley Mk IV 38 revolver. It was based off their .38 caliber Webley Mk III pistol, designed for the police & civilian markets. A nice addition to a British pistol collection. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
