Winchester, Model 74 (Gallery), Marked .22 SHORT ONLY Cal., MFG. 1947, SN: 161774, Semi-Auto Action Rifle, 22'' round barrel. Tube mag fed through the buttstock. This is the second variation produced after WWII, with the 2'' shorter barrel & having a slanted forend tip. Collectors pay more for SHORT only examples. The original flat pistol grip wood stock is excellent, having been lightly sanded & re-oiled. There are minor finish level scuffs & small contusions remaining. There is a filled hole in the forend where the gallery tie-down was previously fastened. The original metal blue finish rates 85% overall. Bore is excellent. Barrel carries factory adjustable rear & standard front sights. Factory metal buttplate. Has spent cartridge deflector as found only gallery variation. A good original Short Only semi-auto .22. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 250 to 500
