DWM, Argentino 1891 Engineers Carbine, Cal: 7.65x53mm, MFG: 1899, S/N: B8174, Bolt action rifle, 17 3/4'' barrel, The original straight wrist wood stock is very good, stock appears to have been lightly sanded & re-oiled, S/N marked on right side of stock below where S/N is on receiver. The metal on the barrel & receiver rates 80% with light scratches & areas of lightly thinned bluing. Left side of the receiver is marked with proof marks, ''MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891'', ''DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN.'', top of receiver is marked with the Argentine coat of arms, right side of receiver is marked with S/N & importer marks, top of barrel has a proof mark, right side of barrel is marked with S/N, right side of sight block marked, ''7.65'', S/N matched bolt, magazine & barrel. Bore is very good to good, clean & bright with lightly thinned rifling & light roughness. Barleycorn front sight with protective wings, V-notch ladder rear sight marked 4 to 14, metal buttplate with light wear. Side sling mounts. This rifle was originally made as a cavalry carbine, but in the early 1930's it was converted to a engineers carbine by adding a bayonet lug and side sling swivels, comes with green leather sling, Bolt is tight when going into lock.
