FABULOUS Winchester, Model 1895, 30 U.S., MFG. 1898 (Antique), SN: 16758, Lever Action Rifle, 28'' Round barrel. An early special order & deluxe rifle. The original deluxe & checkered straight grip wood stocks are excellent, with the original finish thinning a bit from light use. The wood has fantastic grain, with an ebony inlay in the forend & just a few minor handling marks or contusions. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 95%, 85% on the receiver, with even speckled loss. The lever & magazine retain about 50% of their original blue blending with a smooth gray/brown patina where finish is worn. The wear on the magazine is typical operational wear & the lever has flaked over time. The rifle is fitted with a Lyman 21 receiver sight, a blank filled rear dovetail & a ramp mounted beaded blade front. Bore is very good, with deep rifling & frosted grooves. The rifle is equipped with a smooth steel shotgun buttplate, which shows about 40% original blue. This excellent & high original condition example is extremely collectible as an early antique & deluxe rifle.* Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 7500 to 10000
