Springfield Armory, Model M1A M14 U.S Sniper Rifle, CAL: 7.62x51 (.308), SN: 002364, MFG: 1959 (First Year Production), Semi-Auto Rifle, 25'' barrel (w/ muzzle brake). The original M14 type flat pistol grip wood stock, with perforated brown plastic handguard is excellent. When this gun was demilitarized, the full auto parts of the action were removed & the spaces were filled during the refinish process. The boxed ''D.O.D. Eagle'' acceptance mark on the left side of the wrist & ''P'' inside 1/2'' circle over a small shield under the grip are both crisp & legible. The military metal finish is excellent, with small areas of discoloration or thinning. The receiver is a military ''green'' tone. The receiver is stamped ''U.S. RIFLE/7.62mm M1A/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY (T)/ 002364'' in five lines. The barrel is marked ''NM''. Standard rear & front sights, with the rear sight marked ''NM'' with ''595'' on the peep. Bore is excellent & bright. Buttstock carries a trapdoor buttpad, with a hinged top buttplate which was developed to fold out & rest atop the shoulder to help stabilize the rifle in full auto mode. Other features: sling loops. flash suppressor, bayonet lug, 20 round ''Springfield Armory'' stamped mag. The rifle comes with a functioning PVS-2 Night Vision Weapon Sight-3 Stage Tube ABC Protect scope, SN: 004829. The scope comes with a military green soft carry case for storage. We tested this scope & it functions well. Rarely found still functioning & in this condition. Can you imagine what this scope cost the U.S. Military back in the day.
