Mauser, Luger S/42, CAL: 9mm, MFG: 1935, SN: 7905a, Semi Auto Pistol, 4'' barrel. The original checkered walnut grips are very good, with minor contusions, scrapes, edge chips & some staining at the top of grips. The reblued metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90%, with approximately 70% original blue remaining on frame. Straps show additional wear toning to a brown patina. Bore is excellent, with strong rifling. Factory fixed sights. SN on frame ahead of trigger guard, with ''2089'' on barrel & part numbers ''05'' & ''89'' are observed on various parts of the pistol. Pistols manufactured in the 1926-35 time frame used a letter code on top of the chamber area to designate the year of manufacture in lieu of an actual number. The letter codes were intended to disguise the rearmament effort in Germany that was on-going in the early 1930's. These were produced under German Military Contract, thousands were made.
