SPECIAL ORDER Winchester, Model 1886, 45-90 W.C.F., MFG. 1891, SN: 57985, Lever Action Rifle, SPECIAL ORDER 26'' EXTRA HEAVY Octagon barrel, Full mag. This rifle has been professionally restored. The fancy pistol grip stock, with ebony inlay, & forearm display fantastic flame & feathered grain. They appear to have their original finish, with a thin added layer on top for protection. They overall appearance is excellent, with very few tiny contusions or handling marks. The metal blue finish has been restored & rates 99% on barrel & mag. The case-hardened receiver has had some polishing done to it, but the receiver, lever & hammer still display outlines of the faded case-colors. The sliding bolt & loading gate retain a 90% of their original bright blue. The receiver is fitted with a Lyman tang sight, while the barrel carries an adjustable rear & small blade front sights. Bore is excellent. Stock carries a crescent metal buttplate. Comes with a Cody Winchester Factory Records Look-up sheet, which confirms special order configuration of the extra heavy octagon barrel & ''Fancy'' pistol grip stocks & production date. However, the caliber in the lookup sheet is listed as a 45-70, which is believed to be an error or legibility issue in the hand written records. There is two main reasons for this as the consigner indicates the underside the barrel also carries a ''45-90'' Winchester stamping & it has a bore twist rate of 1/32'' 45-90 bore instead of a 1/22'' 45-70 bore. Regardless of the caliber discrepancy, the rifle present extremely well & is very rare as an extra heavy weight barreled & non-checkered pistol grip deluxe antique rifle.
