Savage, Model 1899 Take-down, marked 250-3000 Cal., MFG: 1923, SN: 246553, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered round barrel. The Bishop replacement checkered, cheeked & capped pistol grip Monte Carlo wood stocks are excellent & solid. The checkering on the wrist & beavertail forend appears original & are excellent, but there is a diamond at the wrist on both sides which appears to be added with a stippled background. There are numerous small scratches, scuffs & dings to what appears to be the original finish, which also shows some thinning & flaking. The metal blue finish on the barrel & receiver rates 50%, with spotty areas of loss or wear that is toning to a thin brown patina. The case-hardened lever displays the remains of muted case-coloring. Barrel fitted with a Marbles full buckhorn adjustable rear & original blade front sights. Bore is very good, but with some haze & roughness amongst solid rifling. The stock carries a white line serrated plastic buttplate, which matches the cap on the pistol grip. Action remains solid & tight. Great overall appearance. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
