Remington, Model 2 Sporting rifle, .32 SHORT or LONG R.F., MFG 1888-97, SN: 32166, Rolling block single shot rifle. 26'' Octagon barrel. The model 2 was produced in several variation & evolutions from late 1872 clear through 1910, with some stragglers being produced from remaining parts through 1913. In total approximately 44,000 were produced. The straight grip wood stock & ebony tipped schnabel forend excellent & solid. They display several small to minor scratches, contusions & scuffs to the original finish, with an added layer of protective oil. The original metal blue finish has worn mostly to a gun metal gray, with a thin spotty brown patina in some areas. The metal generally has a light speckled texture. Bore is poor, with lots of pitting & scarring to the worn rifling. Barrel carries an adjustable rear & small silver blade front sights. The stock carries a smooth crescent metal buttplate.
