CUSTOM Eddystone, Model 1917 Enfield Custom Sporting Rifle, CAL: .270/.284 according to tag from consigner, MFG: 1918, SN: 1278863, Bolt Action Rifle, 26'' tapered barrel. The sporting Monte Carlo stock is excellent, with rollover-cheek & a flat pistol grip. The walnut stock exhibits very nice rippled grain, with minor scratches or contusions to the finish. The custom barrel is marked W.H. Hoboughon the left side of the barrel. Bill Hobaugh was well known as a quality barrel maker that practiced his trade for many years out of Phillipsburg, Montana. It was said that he was one of the few who would tackle custom octagon barrels & many custom rifle makers utilized his barrels & tubes. The barrel caliber is not marked on rifle. The un-blued (in white) barrel exterior is excellent. The receiver, floorplate & trigger guard retain remnants of the original finish. Bore is very good. The receiver carries a Lyman 2x-7x scope on Weaver detachable rings, with no open sights on barrel. Buttstock carries a Pachmayr ventilated recoil pad & sling loops.
