Edo-Style Wazao bamboo rod purchased in Japan in 1960 by consigner on a holiday fishing trip. Was hand crafted by a rod master using traditional Japanese methods that went back nine generations in his family. He used a special tool called a yanagiba to hollow out bamboo and a cherry wood mold to straighten out the bamboo called a tamegi he built himself. The rods are in seven pieces in original cloth bag. The long rod is 15 1/2 foot and the short rod is 6 foot 3 inches. The lacquering work is incredible. All the rod parts fit together impeccably. The bamboo is strait as a arrow. Truly a piece of art! This style rod was used for Tanago fishing in Japan which is the quest to catch the tiniest fish you can.
