Winchester, Model 1873, 3rd Variation, CAL: 38 WCF, MFG: 1889, SN: 314302B, Lever Action Rifle, 24 1/4'' Octagon barrel. The original straight grip wood stock & forend are good, appearing to display the original finish. The stock has (2) 2'' grain cracks on either side of the toe, along with several small edge chips on both the stock & forend. There are also numerous other significant contusions, scratches, scrapes & gouges, most on the belly of the forend. The metal finish has toned to a smooth dark chocolate brown patina. The tube appears to have a slight warp. Bore is good, with consistent light pitting & spotting, amongst proud rifling. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & pinched silver blade front sight. Stock carries a sliding trapdoor, crescent metal buttplate, with a 4 piece cleaning rod inside. The lever sometimes hangs up while cycling & could use some adjusting to allow for smooth operation. This antique rifle has an authentic, well worn, western frontier appearance. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
