Winchester, Model 55 Take-Down, marked 30 WCF, MFG:1926, SN: 3527, Lever Action Take-down Rifle, 24'' Fast tapered round ''Nickel Steel'' barrel, 3 round mag. Introduced in 1924 as a new variation of the Model 94, the first 12,002 were serialized in their own sequence. In 1928, SN's were merged into Model 94 production. This early production rifle carries original straight grip wood stocks, which are excellent, displaying the original finish. The finish does have rubbed areas of loss or flaking mostly on the forend & a few minor scuffs or contusions. There is a tiny contusion fill in the left shoulder corner where the wrist meets the receiver. The original metal blue finish is 95% on barrel & 85% on receiver, but with additional percentage of loss on the rear band portion behind the forend & on the lever. The barrel has one small spot of abrasions, while the receiver also has an area of abrasions or nicks on the upper right hand edge & several other scratches to the blue finish. Bore is excellent. Fitted with a Lyman flip-up tang sight, an adjustable flat top rear & standard front sights. Checkered steel shotgun style buttplate. Overall excellent original condition. This is one of the rarer Winchester models with approximate 20,580 model 55 rifles manufactured, making this high condition take-down rifle very collectible amongst Winchester lever collectors.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 3000 to 4000
