RARE ENGRAVED Marlin, Model No.21 ''C'' Grade, CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1907-08, SN: 96095, Pump Action Shotgun, 30'' barrel. The checkered straight grip wood stock & forend are very good. They were lightly sanded & refinished long ago & now display contusions, scratches, scrapes, & areas of finish thinning or worn dull. The stock does show very nice rippled grain. The metal finish on the barrel & tube has toned to a mix of metal gray & original remaining blue, while the receiver has worn almost fully gun metal gray, with small remnants of blue in protected areas. The receiver is factory engraved, with a group of flying mallards on the left, with bordered by ornamental scroll work, two doves on the slide, with ornamental style engraving on the rest of the right side of receiver. The SN on the bottom of the receiver is bordered by a floral/leaf pattern. Bore is excellent, with minor spotting. The barrel holds a single front bead. Buttstock carries a Marlin grooved plastic buttplate. The Marlin Model 21 was only listed in the catalogs for 2 yrs when it was replaced by the new, Marlin Trap Gun. The Model 21 was Marlin's the first straight grip shotgun, with a takedown system.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
