Remington, Model 8, .25 Rem Cal (marked 25-35 Rem), MFG. 1910, SN: 19388, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. Although this rifle fires a .25 Rem rimless cartridge, it carries the original early & rarer .25-35 caliber marking. Remington tried to utilize the 25-35 marking to take advantage of the popularity of Winchester's 25-35 caliber. They were quickly forced to change their caliber marking to .25 Rem on later examples, as these rifles would not accept the rimmed 25-35 cartridges. This makes this early caliber marked rifle even rarer than the fairly rare standard .25. The original straight grip & schnabel forend stocks are very good, having been lightly sanded & nicely refinished. There are minor scuffs, scratches & contusions remaining, with a few larger contusions on the right side of the stock. There are a couple of short, tight stress cracks emanating from the end of the upper tang & running back towards the comb. The original metal blue finish on the barrel has worn & toned mostly dark gray, with 40% coverage. The receiver has worn mostly gun metal gray, with some remains of blue on ths safety, around the safety & on the mag. There is denting to the bottom of the mag. There is some minor spots of rust pitting & speckling. Bore is fair to good, dark, with some roughness amongst good rifling. The barrel is fitted with a standard rear & small blade front sight. Replaced filler screw in the factory tang hole. Stock carries a Remington checkered plastic buttplate. 5 round fixed magazine. Tight action. Rare early caliber marking makes this rifle still very collectible. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1000
