Remington, Model 81, 30 REM CAL, MFG. 1938, SN: 5360, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. A third year production rifle carrying the early generation beavertail wood. The original wood stocks are very good, with the forend carrying an added layer of finish over the worn remains of the original finish. The stock appears to carry the original finish, some minor scratches & contusions. There is a small gouge at the point of the comb & a couple of tiny edge chips along the flat edge of the pistol grip. The original metal blue finish rates 85% overall, with additional thinning on the mag & safety. The blue is toning plum as it thins & ages, which is very common amongst these early 81 rifles. The barrel is fitted with a folding rear leaf & small blade front sights. Bore is very good. Stock carries the Remington checkered metal buttplate. 5 rd fixed magazine. A nice looking early 81 rifle.
