Description

James Cooper, Double Barrel, 12 Ga, MFG: Circa 1850s, S/N: None, Percussion double barrel shotgun, 32'' barrels. The straight wrist checkered walnut half stock is very good with some nicks, dings, scuffs & scratches from use/age. Small chip in wood by the rear of the right lock. Checkering is worn almost smooth but still present, more wear on the forend. The metal has toned to a mix of gun metal gray & brown patina. roughness at the rear of the barrels around the percussion nipples. Both lock plates are marked ''JAS. COOPER''. The top of the barrel rib is makred ''LAMINATED STEEL. The bottom of the barrels are marked with British, Birmingham proofs & other stamps. The bores are good. bright but with roughness & visible striations from use. The right barrel is slightly darker & shows more wear/roughness/ light pitting. The barrel rib holds a bead front sight. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate. mix of blued finish, patina, & light roughness. Shotgun has no sling mounts. It comes with a metal tipped wood ramrod. Antique/Muzzleloader, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
