Lambin & Theate, Copy of ''The Little Enfield'', CAL: 47, MFG: 1886-94, SN: NONE, Percussion Muzzleloader, 27 7/'' barrel. Originally, ''The Little Enfield'' muskets were made for Cadets in Brazil. Some examples made it north to America, where they were sold as ''American Civil War'' guns. Although that is inaccurate, it helped attract potential buyers. This example is made by Lambin & Theate (Belgium) from appx 1886-1894. The company was well-known for making copies of ''old'' style arms for export to Africa & South America, where cartridges may have been harder to come by. The barrel is marked ''L&T'' in a rectangle, with proofs on the left/right barrel flats. The side plate is also stamped ''L&T'' in a rectangle. The initials ''W.S.C'' are carved into the left stock flat & left side of buttstock. There may be a couple other non-legible letters throughout the stock. The wood stock is good & solid. There are numerous small contusions, dings, scotches & scrapes. The blued finish on the barrel has toned to a mix of remaining blue & brown patina. The case-hardened side plate retains visible case-colors. Brass hardware has an aged/orange patina. the rear lock plate/side plate screw is missing. Bore is poor, dark & rough. Blade front sight. Brass buttplate. the percussion nipple tip where the cap sit, has broken off, the base of the nipple still in rifle. Scaled down bayonet. This is a functional firearm. Black powder, No FFL Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
