American/Prussian, .69 Cal Musket, MFG: early 1800s, S/N: None, Flintlock musket, 42'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is good. The stock has a crack on the top of the wrist, one on the bottom of the stock between the side plate & trigger guard tang, one at the top of the side plate between it & the barrel, one on the left side of the forend between the middle & front barrel band, by the stock pin. More small cracks /grain pops by the buttplate. stock has various nicks, dings, & dents from use/age. The right cheek of the stock is marked ''M. P. FRENCH'', possible the name of the Militia man who used this musket or could have been added later for some unknow reason. The metal has toned to a mix of gun metal gray & brown patina with areas of roughness & cleaned pitting. The rear of the barrel is marked ''P''. This is in the style/font of the Early American P proofs of this era. The top mounted bayonet lug is marked with a faded ''U''. the side plate is marked with two worn symbols that appear ''da''. The lock has no markings but appears to be a Prussian made lock from the Late 1700s. Hammer has a crew & brass nut holding it on. the bore is poor. Dark with rust, roughness & pitting. Front barrel band mounted brass front sight blade. The stock carries a iron/steel buttplate with rust & patina. The musket has both bottom sling loops & a ramrod. This musket presents as a pieced together gun made for the militia or just for utilitarian purposes back in the very early 1800s. Musket does appear like a early Springfield model besides the Prussian lock. Antique/Muzzleloader, No FFL Req. - Value: 400 to 800
