Springfield Armory, Model: 1884 trapdoor Oregon state militia marked, Cal: .45-70, MFG: 1888, S/N: 411021, Single shot trapdoor rifle, 32 1/2'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is very good with various nicks, dings, dents, & scratches. The comb of the stock is marked ''ORE.'' This is the mark of the Oregon state militia. No viable inspectors stamp & acceptance year. Metal has a old arsenal refinish with spots of roughness under the finish. The barrel retains about 20% blue around the stock line & chamber, with most of the metal toned brown or worn gray. Barrel has some ding & tool marks. The receiver has complete toned brown. The breech block retains about 35% of the case-hardened finish. The lock plate retains about 50% blue with spots of wear & brown patina. The top of the breech block is marked ''US'', ''MODEL'', ''1873''. The rear of the receiver is stamped with the S/N. the rear of the barrel is marked V over ''P'' over a eagles head, ''P'', ''R'', ''A''. barrel markings are faded from wear. The lock plate is marked with a American Great eagle stamp, ''U.S.'', ''SPRINGFIELD''. Upper extension of the buttplate marked ''US''. Both barrel bands marked ''U''. Oval knurling on hammer, serrated trigger, & has the ''three-click'' action. The bore is fair. Its bright but with thinned rifling, roughness & spots of light pitting. The barrel holds a small blade front sight with a Buffington, U-notch ladder rear sight. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate, worn gray with patina. The rifle has both bottom sling swivels & the third stacking swivel. The rifle has the cleaning/clearing rod. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2500
