Waffenfabrik Bern (Swiss), Model: Kar.31 (K31), Cal: 7.5x55mm Swiss, MFG: 1948, S/N: 917054, Bolt action straight pull rifle, 26'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip beech wood stock is very good with nicks, dents, chips, scratches, & stains from use/age. There is a crack on the tip of the forend, between the stacking rod & barrel. Stock has no visible cartouches. Under the buttplate the stock is marked ''VII 48''. The blued metal finish retains almost full coverage with a few scratches/scuffs & spots of thinning. Overall finish rates 85%. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S/N. The left side of the receiver band is stamped with import marks. The top of the receiver band has the Swiss crest. The top of the barrel, right where it meets the receiver is marked with the last 3 digits of the S/N, backwards ''B'' spliced with ''P'' proof, & two more Swiss proofs. S/N matching bolt, barrel, & magazine. The bore is excellent. Bright & mirrorlike with little to no visible wear. The barrel holds a squared blade front sight with protective wings, with a tangent U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 15. The stock carried a steel buttplate, left in the white & has speckled patina. No id tag under the buttplate. The rifle has bolt left side sling mounts. Comes with sling clasp on rear sling bar. The Swiss K31 is the last iteration of the Schmidt-Rubin series of rifles & was the last bolt action the Swiss military adopted. Replaced in 1958 by the SIG Stgw.57, it was used by certain units up till the 1970s making it one of the last Bolt actions that was still used by a military. Praised for their accuracy & smooth actions this rifle here would make a fine shooter to add to any collection. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 350 to 700
