Ludwig Loewe & Co., Model: 1891 Argentino Mauser, Cal: 7.65x53mm Mauser, MFG: 1893, S/N: E 0310, Bolt action rifle, 29'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is very good with a couple nicks, dings, & scratches from use. The finish on the left cheek of the stock has been worn or sanded off. The S/N is stamped into the right side of the stock just in front of the magazine. There is one faint cartouche on the upper handguard, three on the bottom of the wrist, two more on the belly of the stock, there is a faint one on the right side just below the S/N stamping, & a worn one on the right cheek. The bottom of the stock, just behind the rear barrel band is marked ''L'', ''G''. The blued metal finish retains almost full coverage but is toning to a chocolate brown patina with a bare metal spot where the crest was ground off the receiver. Overall bluing rates 35% . The left side of the receiver is marked with two proof stamps, ''MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891'', ''MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN.''. The right side of the receiver band & the barrel are stamped with the S/N. The top rear of the barrel & left side of the rear sight base has a proof mark. Other metal parts have small proofs. S/N matching bolt, barrel, magazine, & cleaning rod. The bore is excellent. Bright & mirrorlike with little wear. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a flip-up ladder, V-notch rear sight marked 4 to 20. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate with spots of wear & patina. Rifle has both bottom sling loops. Rifle has a early brass tip cleaning rod. Most Argentine Mauser have the crests ground off because it was a legal requirement to export them when the majority of them were imported. This requirement was gotten rid of later but since they imported the rifles in better condition first the ones in worse condition usually have them, & there are far fewer of them. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 350 to 700
