J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Model: K98k, Cal: 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser), MFG: 1942, S/N: 5351 (O serial block), Bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel. The aftermarket, semi-pistol grip, cheeked monte Carlo stock is excellent with only a few small scuffs. Birds eye maple forend cap. The metal has mostly worn to a gun metal gray with some finish remaining on the stock line & protected areas on the receiver. The barrel retains 30% blue coverage with spots of thinning, gun metal gray, brown patina, & over applied stock varnish. The left side of the receiver is marked ''Mod.98''. the left side of the receiver band is marked with a German iron eagle & the S/N. The top of the receiver band is marked with a iron eagle, German script ''ce'', ''42''. The right side is marked with a Waffenamt proof mark. The left side of the barrel is marked with a iron eagle & a ''37'' Waffenamt proof. Markings are faded/worn from rust cleaning. All Visible S/N marked parts other than the bolt release lever are mismatched. All bolt components S/N match together. The bore is good. has roughness & lightly thinned rifling. The barrel holds barleycorn front sight with a grooved base, & a tangent V-notch rear sight marked 1 to 20. The stock carried a plastic buttplate. Rifle has both bottom sling swivels. Comes with black leather M1907 style sling. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 500
