Fabrique Nationale, Model: M1930 Mauser carbine for the Colombia Mounted Police (Carabineros Montados), Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1952-53, S/N: 453, Bolt action rifle, 17 3/4'' barrel.
HISTORY: These carbines were ordered in 1951 for the Colombia mounted police. They were made & delivered in 1952-53. These were made at FN in .30-06 unlike the ones they ordered before in 7mm then converted to .30-06. The side sling swivels were added to these models to make carrying them on horseback much easier & more comfortable. The Carabineros Montados made up over 1,000 troops of the Police in the 1950s.
CONDITION: the semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with various nicks, dents, small gouges/chips & wear from use/age. The wood finish is a mix of original & added oils over the years. The S/N is stamped into the right side of the stock, just above the forward recoil lug. The right cheek of the stock is marked ''35'' in white paint. The blued metal finish retains almost full coverage but is starting to thin & tone to a plum/brown patina. Bluing overall rates 60%. The left side of the receiver is marked ''FAB. NAT. DARMES de GUERRE'', ''HERSTAL BELGIQUE''. The left side of the receiver band is marked with a Belgium proof mark, the right side is marked with the S/N. the right end of the barrel is stamped with import markings. S/N matching bolt. The bore is good. bright with roughness & lightly thinned rifling. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a checkered base. Rear sight is a tangent V-notch marked 2 to 14.the stock carries a grooved steel buttplate that's toning to a brown patina. Rifle is missing the cleaning rod. rifle has both bottom & left side sling loops. A unique little carbine that will certainly give you a wallop chambered in the big .30-06. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 450 to 900
