Colt, 1877 ''Lightning'', CAL: 38, MFG: 1901, SN: 123217, Double Action Revolver, 4 1/2'' round barrel. The top of the barrel is stamped in two lines ''COLTS PT.F.A MFG. CO HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A''. The left side of the frame is marked with the standard three line patent dates, next to the circled Rampant Colt logo. The full SN can be found on the frame, trigger guard & butt. The original checkered brown hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt are excellent. There is a small spot on both grips where the checkering is worn smooth & some minor contusions, otherwise excellent. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90%, with concentrated holster wear to the muzzle & ejecotor rod housing. The cylinder rates 85% & the trigger guard rates 50-60%, with concentrated loss to the straps, with areas beginning to tone to a brown patina. The case-hardned frame is excellent, retaining vivid case-colors. Bore is very good, with intermittent roughness & a couple spots of pitting, concentrated to the top of the bore. Small v-notch rear sight & large blade front sight. An excellent example of an all original 1877. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1400 to 2000
