RARE!!, WW2 Bausch & Lomb, U.S. Naval Gun Factory, Mark 37 Binoculars. Not many of these were made & they were only issued to captains & gun fire control officers of cruisers & Battleships. Theres would have been issued out directly for the Bureau of Ordnance & are marked BU.ORD for them. they were made by modifying the standard Bureao of Ships (BU.SHIPS) Mark 1 Binoculars, this information is lined out on the right side. In that lined out information is the date of the Mark one MFG, 1940. they increased the magnification to 9 x 63, from 7 x 50 on the Mark 1. The Original Bausch & Lomb info & magnification mark is on the right & left sides. The new markings on the left side read ''U.S. NAVY BU.ORD.'', ''U.S. NAVAL GUN FACTORY'', ''MARK 37 9 X 63'', ''NO.4358'', no date stamp of when it was updated. Someone scratched their service number into the left side. The majority of the original paint remains with areas of wear, scratches & spots flaking off, come corners show ding/nick marks. The leather has a few cracks & shows use wear, it has smoothed out in spots of heavy wear. Grade: Very Good - Value: 250 to 600
