Winchester, Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine, Third Variation, .44 Henry Cal., MFG: 1871, SN: 76521, Lever Action Carbine. 20'' round barrel, Full mag. The original wood stocks are very good & solid, having been sanded & refinished. The stock has a 2'' corner repaired chip at the upper right corner of the wrist. The stocks carry minor handling marks, scrapes, small contusions & staining, most of which is found on the forend. Barrel, mag, lever, hammer & bands have all worn gun metal gray, with some areas of a thin brown patina & speckling or areas of cleaned light pitting. The brass receiver appears to have been cleaned some time ago & has developed a nicely aged patina. Bore is good, but with some cleaned roughness & pitting amongst thinned rifling. There is a halo 1/2'' from the muzzle, but not a bulge or deep ring. The barrel carries the original flip-up rear sight, with marking for 100, 300 & 500 YDS & the standard boxed blade carbine front sight. The lower tang is stamped with the SN. The stock carries a smooth trapdoor crescent brass buttplate, with the #'s ''2030'' stamped on the inside toe. A staple mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. Tight smooth action & all appears mechanically sound. This is a nice appearing & still very collectible 1866 SRC. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 6000
