Winchester, Model 1876, 3rd Variation, Marked .40-60 W.C.F. Cal., MFG: 1886, SN: 56123, Lever Action Rifle, 28'' Round barrel, Full mag. The original straight grip wood stock & forend are very good, having been cleaned, lightly sanded & reoiled over the remaining original finish. There are several minor scratches, scrapes & contusions remaining. There is a missing corner chip at the right upper corner of the wrist & a fill repair on the left side. The stocks actually present very well. The original metal blue finish has worn & thinned to a mostly gun metal gray & thin or spotty brown patina mix, with some remnants of blue remaining in the more protected areas. The loading gate retains the most original blued finish. Bore is good, but with areas of cleaned roughness amongst strong rifling. The barrel holds the original 1876 stamped flip-up ladder rear sight & a tall pinched blade front sight. Stock carries a sliding trapdoor smooth crescent metal buttplate. Dust cover slides smoothly. Smooth tight action. A solid & good representation of an antique 1876 rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 2500 to 4000
