Winchester Model 1892 SHORT RIFLE, CAL: .44 WCF, MFG: 1894, SN: 23729, Lever Action Rifle, The round barrel & mag have been cut down to 18 3/8''. The original straight grip wood stocks are good & solid. There was a break at the left side of the wrist that was nicely repaired, with evidence of 5 thin pegs or finishing nails. There are numerous minor to small nicks, gouges, scratches & contusion to the wood which carries the original worn finish & a thicker added layer of finish. There is a 2'' glue repaired crack at the right side of the forend tip & another emanating from the lower tang on the stock. The metal have been nickel plated & rate very good with no flaking, but some fine scratches. Bore is good, with even roughness amongst rifling. Barrel fitted with a Redfield adjustable rear sight & blade front sight, with ivory bead. Smooth crescent metal buttplate. Smooth tight action. This little antique rifle, would make be a great cowboy shoot companion to a revolver of the same 44 WCF caliber. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
