Winchester, Model 1885 High Wall 2nd Model WINDER MUSKET, .22 LONG R. Cal., MFG: 1915, SN: 116161, Single Shot Lever Rifle, 28'' barrel. Often referred to as the Winder Musket after the acclaimed marksman Colonel C.B. Winder. The wood stock is excellent, original & solid, with the original finish & some added oils. The stocks have some very minor nicks & contusions. Metal blue finish on barrel is 85%, while the receiver retains a spotty 40%, the rest appearing to have flaked away to a gun metal gray. Muted case-colors found on the Case-hardened lever. The barrel carries a Krag Model 1901 elevation adjusting rear sight & standard front sight. Left side of barrel marked with the two line Winchester address/patent dates & caliber marking. The top of receiver & barrel in front of rear sight carry the Winchester oval proof. Has three line Winchester trade mark on the upper tang. Steel carbine buttplate & sling swivels. Bore is excellent. Only 7200 produced. A fairly rare & high condition survivor, which is very collectible. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1250 to 2000
