J. Stevens A. & T. Co., Model No. 9 Tip-Up New Model Range Rifle, Cal: 32-35, MFG: 1886 - early 90's, SN: 27974, Single shot, tip open, 30'' Octagon to round barrel, Stevens marketed the Model no. 9 as ''The most accurate of the Tip-up rifles''. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, with some light scratches, scrapes & dings to the excellent finish. There is a 2'' glue repaired corner break to the back right side of the forend. Left side of barrel is marked ''J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. CHICOPEE FALLS.MASS. S.A. PAT.SEPT.6.1864''. The metal blue finish to the barrel rates 70%, with much of the loss on the breech end due to several areas of cleaned pitting & areas of thinning toning to a brown patina. The nickel finished receiver & rates very good retaining the majority of the nickel. The receiver is fitted with a large sliding disk flip-up Vernier tang sight, while the barrel carries a folding globe front sight. Bore is very good, with roughness amongst strong rifling. Stock carries a nickeled brass Schuetzen buttplate, retaining remnants of original nickel. An excellent example of the early Stevens tip-up rifle. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 600 to 1200
