J. Stevens Arms Co., Model No. 44, Cal: 22 LR, MFG: 1894 - 1933, SN: 33459, Single Shot Rolling Block, 24'' Octagon to round barrel. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good, as having been lightly sanded & an older refinish. There are several minor scratches, handling marks & contusions to the current worn thin finish. There are a couple glue repaired hairline cracks & a 2'' sliver of missing edge wood to the forend . The right side of barrel is stamped ''J. STEVENS ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS.MASS. USA.'', while the left side is stamped ''22-LR''. There is a ''2'' stamped in the underside of the barrel, under the forend. The SN is stamped on both the lower tang & the barrel. The original metal blue finish to the barrel rates 65%, while the receiver & lever display a thin brown patina. The barrel carries an adjustable rear & Rocky Mountain front sights. Bore is fair, with roughness amongst worn rifling. Stock carries a crescent metal buttplate. Roughly 100,000 Stevens 44 rifles were produced in all calibers. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 400 to 800
