J. Stevens Arms Co., Model No. 45, Cal: 32 Ideal, MFG: 1896 - 1916, SN: 11583, Single Shot Rolling Block, 28'' Octagon to round barrel. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid. There are numerous minor to large scratches, gouges, contusions & some black staining, all found mostly to the stock. Finish on the forearm is very good, while worn thin on the stock. The top of barrel is stamped ''J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. CHICOPEE FALLS. MASS. PAT OCT 29, 89'', while the left side is stamped ''32. IDEAL''. There is a ''2'' stamped in the underside of the barrel under the forend, indicating a No. 2 barrel. Matching SN stamped on both the lower tang & the barrel. The original metal blue finish to the barrel rates 75%, with areas of rust pitting on the forward portion of the barrel. The receiver displays muted case-coloring. The rifle is fitted with a period correct L.C. Cummings Montpelier VT Scope, while the barrel has blank filled sight dovetails. Bore is excellent. Stock carries a Schuetzen buttplate.
