CUSTOM Remington, Model 4 Take-down SMOOTHBORE, .32 R.F., MFG 1902-24, SN: 164908, Rolling block single shot rifle. 24'' Octagon to round barrel. The model 4 was produced from 1890 to 1933 in several variation & evolutions. The model 4 began production in 1890 as a screw in fixed barrel, but it was change to a take-down with lever in 1902 until 24 when it was changed again to a take-down screw. The rifle with the take-down screw was produced from 1924 to 33. This mid production lever take-down variation was altered into a smoothbore & has an old refinish, likely done by Axel Peterson, as it is stamped ''A.W. PETERSON DENVER COLO.'' The straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, having been lightly sanded & refinished. There remains remnants of old use marks & some oil dark spots remaining. The metal blue on the barrel is older refinish is starting to tone a bit plum, with coverage rating 80% overall. The top of the receiver has been machine flattened & there are other a couple other areas showing evidence of filing or polishing & then heat torch treated. The smooth bore is excellent. Barrel carries a fixed dovetail rear & bead front sights. The stock carries a smooth metal Remington buttplate. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
