Dickson-Howa, Model Golden Bear, CAL: 30-06 SPRG, MFG: 1967, SN: A2448H, Bolt Action Rifle, 24 1/2'' barrel, Howa of Japan presented the Howa Golden Bear bolt action rifle at the Chicago Shot Show in 1967. Approximately 3000 Golden Bear rifles were exported to U.S.A & passed all the tests at HP White Laboratory, which is one of the worlds most prestigious firearms testing laboratories. After the introduction of the rifle, Howa won the fame & acceptance in the U.S market. As most Sako enthusiast are aware, the ''Golden Bear'' was an almost exact copy of the Sako Finnbear. Conventional wisdom is that Sako sued Howa for patent infringements, which stopped the production & sale of the Golden Bear. The original skip line checkered, cheeked & capped pistol grip Monte Carlo walnut stock is excellent, with rose wood slant-cut forend tip & pistol grip cap. The original finish is very good, but has started to haze some & has a couple of areas of discoloration. There are a few light scratches & contusions to wood & finish. The original metal blue finish rates 98% overall. Bore is excellent. The receiver carries a Bushnell Sportview scope, while the barrel has a hooded ramp front sight. Stock carries the factory buttplate. Sling studs. A very nice, high quality & fairly rare hunting rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
