ENGRAVED Colt Lightning, Medium Frame, SADDLE RING, Marked 44 Cal., MFG: 1890, SN: 49138, Pump Action Rifle, 20 1/4'' Round barrel. This rifle was custom engraved & refinished. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good, with correct checkered forend & non-checkered stock. The stock has been sanded & refinished, displaying fantastic rippled & contrasting grain. The forearm appears to carry the original finish, with an added thin layer of finish. The stocks have minor scratches, nicks & contusions. The receiver, trigger guard, buttplate & forend sliding bar have all been polished & left in the white, with some remains of cleaned pitting. The receiver has been hand engraved with a scroll & fan motif, also featuring a bear on the right & boar on the left. The barrel & mag tub have been buffed & reblued, retaining approximately 80% coverage of the blue. There is cleaned pitting, abrasions, contusions & dents under the reblue, with additional spotting loss. Bore is fair, with spotty areas of cleaned pitting or roughness amongst rifling. The barrel holds a box blade front sight & a flip-up slide adjusting ladder sight. The rear ladder sight is mounted backwards & displays considerable pitting under the refinish. Buttstock carries a carbine style metal buttplate. Mechanically tries to lock-up in the rear cocking position & is loose or fails to lock up in the forward position after working the action. The rifle has not been test fired, may need some adjustment. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
