EXTREMELY RARE Standard Arms, Model ''CAMP'', Marked .50 Cal. (50-95) SMOOTH BORE, MFG. 1909-20, SN: 2277, Pump Action & Semi-Auto Rifle, 22 1/2'' Round barrel. Standard Arms is known for producing the G (semi auto/ pump) & M (pump only) rifles chambered in the readily available, proven Remington .25, .30, .32 & .35 rounds originally developed for the Remington Model 8. However, this very similar looking rifle is unusual in that it is marked ''''CAMP'' 50 CAL.'' on the barrel & is a smooth bore. Only 50 or less of these smooth bore camp rifles were produced & they are rarely encountered on the collectors market. The original round knob pistol grip wood stocks are very good. The stock displays the original factory finish, which is starting to develop a bit of spider webbing & areas of haze. There are also minor to small scuffs, scratches & contusion. The stock carries an elaborate cast brass buttplate, supposedly manufactured & provided to the Standard Arms Co. from the famous House of Tiffany foundry. Unlike most Standard Arms rifles, the Camp model did not have the cast brass forearms, rather a grooved or corn cob style wood forend, which is also in very good shape, with the original finish & a small missing chip on the forward right side next to the retention screw. The original factory metal blue finish rates 85% on barrel, 70% on the receiver & mag, with areas of thinning or loss starting to tone to a brown patina. Bore is excellent. The rifle is fitted with a ramped silver bead front sight. A very rare & unique pump smooth bore rifle, with less than 50 produced. Highly collectible! FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2500 to 5000
