RARE & ENGRAVED Remington Custom Shop Rifle, Model 8 ''D'' Grade, .35 Rem Cal, MFG. 1910, SN: 20637, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. This rifle, invented by John Browning, was America's first successful semi auto high-power rifle. These take down rifles were often broken down into the 22'' & 20'' halves & placed into travel cases for train rides to countryside hunts & shoots. This special order custom shop rifle has a straight grip, high grade English walnut stock & forearm. Stocks are excellent, with wonderful figure to the grain & factory hand checkering at 22 lines-per-inch. Special ordered with a blank gold medallion in the belly of the stock for initials, typically found on the higher ''F'' grade rifles. There is a small group of small chatter contusions near the toe, with virtually no other marks to the excellent finish. The original metal blue finish rates 70% overall, The receiver side panels are covered with what Remington marketed as ''rich scroll hand engraving''. Engraving is also found on belly of magazine, trigger guard, tangs & barrel jacket. Bore is excellent. Fitted with a Lyman tang sight, a Marble's rear sight blank & blade front sight. Stock carries the original checkered Remington plastic buttplate. 4 round fixed magazine. Tight action & functions as it should. A beautiful & rare engraved rifle in the very popular to hunt with 35 Rem caliber. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 3500 to 6500
