Remington, Model 8, .25 Rem Cal, MFG. 1923, SN: 48490, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. The original straight grip & schnabel forend stocks are good & solid, but with most of the original finish having been worn off or stripped from the wood. The stock may have also been lightly sanded, but both pieces of furniture retain several minor scuffs, scratches & contusions, more so found on the forend. The stock has two very short tight hairline cracks emanating from the end of the upper tang, plus a 2 1/2'' crack at the top of the comb emanating from the upper buttplate screw. The metal finish has worn & mostly thinned to a thin brown patina, with remnants of original blue remaining in more protected areas. There are four screw filled holes on the left side of the receiver from a previous scope mount. Bore is good, but with some areas of roughness amongst strong rifling. Barrel is fitted with standard adjustable rear & Lyman blade front sights. Buttstock carries a Remington UMC smooth lower tang crescent metal buttplate. 5 round fixed magazine. Tight action. This is one of the rarer calibers often sought by collectors. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 800
