Remington, Model 81, 30 REM CAL, MFG. 1938, SN: 5445, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. This early production rifle carries the early generation beavertail wood. The original wood stocks are excellent, with some minor scratches & contusions. The wood carries the original finish, with a thin additional protective layer over the top. The original metal blue finish rates 75% overall, with additional thinning on the mag. The blue is toning plum as it ages, which is very common amongst these early 81 rifles. The barrel is fitted with standard front & rear sights. Bore is excellent. Stock carries the Remington checkered metal buttplate. The left side of the barrel carries a repair code from where the rifle was returned to the factory for unknown repair or upgrade. These repair stampings typically are a 3 or 4 digit code ending in ''3'', in this case ''BPP3''. 5 rd fixed magazine. Sling loops in stock & forend. Smooth tight action. A sharp looking & mostly original condition early 81 rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 650 to 1000
