Savage, Model 69RXL Series E, CAL: 12GA 2 3/4'' & 3'', MFG: 1970s-80s, SN: E599192, Pump Action Shotgun, Choke: CYL, 18 1/2'' Barrel (No Rib).
HISTORY: Early in the Vietnam War, the Stevens Arms Company received orders for military riot guns from the Department of Defense. The shotguns saw wide usage during U.S. involvement in Vietnam, especially among Military Police, infantry & other units. Some also went to our Vietnamese allies. Reportedly, 60,920 riot guns were delivered to the U.S. Armed Forces or allies beginning in 1963. Though originally intended primarily for the Vietnamese, the need for shotguns by U.S. troops resulted in thousands being issued to U.S. personnel. Although, widely used during the Vietnam War, the involvement of Savage/Stevens shotguns is relatively unknown outside of U.S. military collectors. This later & updated 69RXL version was often used by law enforcement & by civilians as home security arms.
CONDITION: The original flat pistol grip wood stocks are excellent, with very light handling wear. The original metal blued finishes rate 98% overall, with loss wear on the magazine tube from light use. Bore is excellent. The barrel holds a small silver front bead. The stock caries a ventilated rubber recoil pad. LOP is 14'' over pad. Mechanically solid. FFL Req. - Value: 250 to 500
