Savage, Model 69RXL Series E, CAL: 12GA 2 3/4'' & 3'', MFG: 1970s-80s, SN: E244519, Pump Action Shotgun, Choke CYL, 18 1/4'' Ported Barrel.
HISTORY: Early in the Vietnam War, the Stevens Arms Company received orders for military riot guns from the Department of Defense. The shotguns saw wide usage during U.S. involvement in Vietnam, especially among Military Police, infantry & other units. Some also went to our Vietnamese allies. Reportedly, 60,920 riot guns were delivered to the U.S. Armed Forces or allies beginning in 1963. Though originally intended primarily for the Vietnamese, the need for shotguns by U.S. troops resulted in thousands being issued to U.S. personnel. Although, widely used during the Vietnam War, the involvement of Savage/Stevens shotguns is relatively unknown outside of U.S. military collectors. This later & updated 69RXL version was often used by law enforcement & by civilians as home security arms.
CONDITION: The wood stock and forend are excellent, solid with light handling wear. The silver metal finish rates excellent, with some light rust speckling. Bore is excellent. The trigger clicks twice when pulled, but the overall function appears unaffected. Silver bead front sight. Leather sling. FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
