Lambin & Theate, Copy of ''The Little Enfield'', CAL: 38, MFG: 1886-94, SN: NONE, Percussion Muzzleloader, 27 3/4'' barrel. Originally, ''The Little Enfield'' muskets were made for Cadets in Brazil. Some examples made it north to America, where they were sold as ''American Civil War'' guns. Although that is inaccurate, it helped attract potential buyers. This example is made by Lambin & Theate (Belgium) from appx 1886-1894. The company was well-known for making copies of ''old'' style arms for export to Africa & South America, where cartridges may have been harder to come by. The top of the barrel is marked ''BELGIUM THE LITTLE ENFIELD''. The left side of the barrel is faintly marked ''L&T'' in a rectangle, with proofs on the right. The side plate is also stamped ''L&T'' in a rectangle. The number ''06'' is stamped into the right side of the stock, twice. The straight grip wood stock is excellent, having been sanded & re-finished. There are smoothed contusions & dings throughout. The blued finish on the barrel has worn to a mix of metal gray, remaining blue & thin brown patina. The case-hardened side plate retains visible case-colors. Bore is poor, dark & rough. Elevated blade front sight. Smooth metal buttplate. Sling loops. Ramrod present. This is a functional firearm. Blackpowder, No FFL Req. - Value: 400 to 800
