Springfield Armory, Mode: 1898 Krag, .30-40 Krag, MFG: 1902, S/N: 410538, Bolt action rifle, 30'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is good as being cut down, shaped, lightly sanded & oiled. The upper handguard has crack repairs, chips, & a chunk missing from the rear. Forend cap has a wood fill in the cleaning rod channel. Bottom of wrist marked with a faded circle ''P'' firing proof. The left side of the wrist is marked with a faded inspectors cartouche. The metal on the receiver is mostly worn to a gun metal gray/ brown patina with some thinned blue remaining on the receiver band, under the handguard. The barrel has toned to a mix of brown patina & thinned blue. The bore is good. Its bright but has roughness & spots of pitting. The barrel holds the original blade front sight. The original barrel rear sight has been removed & a was replaced by a Lyman receiver mounted aperture sight, inside of peep threaded for smaller aperture sizes. The stock carries a steel trapdoor buttplate. It has rust, nothing inside the trapdoor. Rifle has both bottom sling mounts. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 150 to 300
